Saudis move old armour to Yemeni border A Saudi military convoy was seen carrying French-made AMX-30 main battle tanks and AMX-10P armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to its border with Yemen on 11 May.
A camera crew from
Al-Hadath television channel (a subsidiary of Al-Ahrabiya) filmed 12 AMX-30s, 5 AMX-10Ps and an armoured recovery vehicle going past, but that appeared to be just a small part of the convoy.
On the same day, the Saudi news website
sabq.org published photographs of AMX-30s and AMX-10Ps being moved by transporters
at a different location. It published the photograph next to a report saying a "strike force" from the 4th Brigade of the Royal Saudi Land Forces had been moved to the border for a possible incursion into Yemen against the Zaidi group Ansar Allah, which has been subjected to a Saudi-led air campaign since 25 March.
The announcement came a day before Saudi Arabia and its allies were due to begin à five-day pause in its bombing campaign to allow humanitarian aid to be distributed in Yemen.
